Alice Gronstedt Obituary

Alice Marie Gronstedt, 84, of Otterville, Missouri died Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Boone Health Center in Columbia, MO.
Ms. Gronstedt was born March 25, 1927 in Otterville, MO, to Frank and Sudie Belle Coffman Diefendorf, Sr. On September 26, 1947, she married Joseph F. Gronstedt in Clinton, MO, who preceded her in death in January 2008.
She attended Rockland Elementary School and was the valedictorian of the 1944 graduating class of Otterville High School. She graduated from Central Missouri State Teacher's College in Warrensburg, MO with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught in small country schools before graduating from college. After graduation, she taught social studies in Appleton City, Windsor, Marshall and Otterville. After raising her children, she returned to college in 1979 for her elementary degree and taught fifth grade at Otterville Public School for 17 years before retiring in 1996. She continued to work after her retirement helping in her daughter's medical office until January 2011. She was a member of the Clifton City Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter-Dr. Joy Gronstedt of Sedalia, two sons-Frank Gronstedt of Otterville and Dr. Gary Gronstedt of Minneapolis, MN; her beloved peekapoos and supporters during her illness, Bridget and Bandit. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Joseph, and brothers-Joseph, John Earl, and Frank, Jr.
Services for Ms. Gronstedt will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Otterville with Pastor Vi Rhoads officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Otterville.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.
