Quillie Alexander Obituary
QUILLIE LEE ALEXANDER
It is with heavy hearts, but with profound gratitude for the years of devotion and unwavering support, that we announce the passing of Quillie Lee (Wilson) Alexander, a devoted daughter, wife, loving mother, grandmother, and sister at the age of ninety. Quillie passed peacefully on May 14, 2025, surrounded by her family at Kingswood Manor in Kansas City, Missouri.
Born to Walter "Sonny" Shrout Wilson and Nancie Hilma (Draffen) Wilson on February 4, 1935, Quillie so loved her mom and dad. She lost her father at the age of nine. Her mom later married Frank Heisler, who was a dedicated stepfather to Quillie.
Quillie was a woman of boundless love, resilience, grace, and strength. She met the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Charles Oliver Alexander, during their teenage years. Charles and Quillie married on August 24, 1953. Their enduring love story spanned seventy beautiful years of marriage, a testament to their deep bond and unwavering commitment. Charles referred to her as "Till", and she found comfort in this as the years passed.
Together, they raised nine children, a legacy of love and family that was at the very heart of Quillie's life. She embraced motherhood with unmatched devotion and found joy in every milestone, every family gathering, and every simple moment shared with her children and grandchildren.
Quillie was her children's biggest fan, faithfully attending countless sporting events, and band and cheerleading competitions over the years. Rain or shine, near or far, she was there with a proud smile, a supportive hug, and often, a homemade treat. Whether cheering from the stands or from home, she was always bringing energy and enthusiasm. She never missed her children's games or a band competition.
A woman of many passions, Quillie found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. She was an avid reader who could often be found lost in the pages of her favorite books, reading the morning newspaper while having her coffee or working on crossword puzzles. Her hands were rarely still, busy with planting flowers, quilting, needlepoint, or preparing a warm meal. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and connection, filled with the smell of fresh-baked pies, cakes, cookies, cobblers, and hearty home-cooked meals that brought her family together.
Quillie also had an adventurous spirit and a deep appreciation for the world around her. She loved traveling, both across the United States and internationally, always eager to explore new places, cultures, and cuisines. At home, she was equally content driving miles just to take in the countryside or enjoy a good Amish restaurant treasuring the peace and beauty of a quiet rural road.
She had a love for music from the big band era to Elvis Presley and many artists over the years. Quillie did everything with heart. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.
While her family took the front stage, she also had a professional life after her children were all in school as an Administrative Assistant in Carmel, Indiana at The Pyramids in College Park, and at Midwest Research Institute, in Kansas City, Missouri where she retired.
Quillie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Oliver Alexander, parents Walter Wilson, and Nancie Hilma Heisler, and stepfather Frank Heisler. Also preceding her in death was her son, Charles Michael Alexander (Jacki); son-in-law, Jimmy Lee Yielding (Karen); sister Lula Mae Roehrs, and a brother William Heisler.
