Barbara Johnson Obituary

Barbara was born May 31, 1938 to Aubry and Nettie Rogers in Snyder, Texas. She grew up in Gail, Texas and married Dan Kenneth Johnson on August 24, 1956 in Artesia, N.M.

Barbara and Dan moved to Canyon, Texas where Dan graduated from West Texas University. They also grew their family by two when Kenna Gail Johnson was born in 1958 followed by Guy Everett Johnson in 1959. In 1960 they all moved to Dumas, Texas.

Over the years, Barbara worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at two different irrigation companies, Potash of America and PMHA. She also maintained the books and secretarial needs for J&S Irrigation as co-owner with Dan.

Barbara was involved in the community and internationally as an active member of Pilot International where she served in various roles including President. Pilot International is a community-based volunteer service organization founded in 1921 in Macon, GA, on the guiding principles of "Friendship and Service." This is a very good description of Barbara's principles too.

Barbara also surprised many in the 1970's when she got her pilot's license and partnered on two small planes. She loved to fly and would go as often as possible, just for the fun of it.

Dan Kenneth Johnson passed away on March 27, 2017 and Barbara continued her journey when she moved to Borger, Texas. There she quickly joined the First Methodist Church and became a part of a new family. She volunteered with the Salvation Army and made new friends and found some old ones.

Barbara had recently relocated to Pilot Point, Texas where she welcomed her 11th great grandchild, Hudson James Brewer.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Dan Johnson, and her sister Aleta Nichols.

Barbara is survived by her brother Roy Rogers and wife Shirley of Pueblo West, Co.; daughter Kenna Johnson and husband Philip Buckmeier of Pilot Point, Texas; Guy Johnson and wife Michele of Borger, Texas; Grandchildren: Elizabeth Carlson and husband Lance; Jessica Andrews and husband Damon; Sarah Brewer and husband Clark; Joshua Johnson and wife Kimberly and Zachary Buckmeier. 11 Great Grandchildren: Parker Brewer, Hudson Brewer, Kade Carlson, Piper Carlson, Chance Andrews, Cami Andrews, Aniston Andrews, Amerson Andrews, Hemingway Johnson, Cambridge Johnson, Callaway Johnson.

Her Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at First Methodist Church with Pastor Toni Bailey officiating, services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. The family will meet and visit with guests immediately following the service.

The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to First Methodist Church, 200 N. McGee, Borger, TX 79007.
