Joy Rush Obituary

Joy Don Rush, 68, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Grace Church in Borger. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a gift to Lake Meredith Lifehouse Church, P.O. Box 1690, Fritch, Texas 79036 or to Dr. David Jeremiah Ministries, P.O. Box, 3838, San Diego, California, 92163.

Joy was born October 8, 1956, in Hobart, Oklahoma to Donald Rex Wright and Joyce Chloe Shelton Wright. She married Charles Max Rush on December 16, 1978. Joy was a member of Lake Meredith Lifehouse Church in Fritch. She served the community for over 47 years as a realtor and insurance writer, currently for RE/MAX Town & Country. Joy enjoyed fishing, arts and crafts, and antiques. She had a smile that would light up any room and a sweet spirit that always made you feel welcomed and loved. Nothing brought more joy to her life than her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her dear friends at RE/MAX Town and Country said it best when remembering Joy:

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our dear friend and colleague, Joy Don Rush. For over 40 years, she dedicated her life to real estate-not just as a career, but as a calling. She had an unwavering commitment to her community, our work family, and her beloved church family. She never met a stranger-everyone she encountered was welcomed with open arms and treated like an old friend. Helping others wasn't just what she did-it was who she was.

She always talked about retiring one day, but little did we know that her true retirement plan was to work until the week before joining her Heavenly Father. She simply couldn't walk away from the people she cared for so deeply.

Joy loved deeply, and she told us often. She treated everyone like family, and if you knew her, you knew exactly where she stood or what she stood for-there was never a mystery about what was on her mind! Her beautiful smile, crazy fun spirit, and unforgettable laughter will be missed beyond words.

She left us with the best memories and a heart full of both love and loss. We are better for having known her, and we will carry her spirit with us always.

Rest easy, dear friend, we love you.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Joyce Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Max Rush of Fritch; daughters, Alexis Sims and husband Steve of Amarillo, Aleigha Farmer and husband Garrett of Shamrock; son, Levi Rush of Amarillo; grandchildren, Lukas Gans, Riley Sims, Weston Farmer, Corbin Farmer, Kambree Farmer; brother, Tracy W.
