McDONOUGH, Alan T. On May 21 in Hingham, formerly of Dover, MA, at the age of 79. Devoted and beloved family man. From his first marriage to the late Karin McDonough, survivors include his sons John (Melissa) and David (Elizabeth) and daughter Molly (Joe Caterini). From his second marriage, Jane (Peter Kellogg) and daughter Lindy (Conor MacKean) survive him, and they had a son, the late Charlie. From his current marriage, Patti Baker McDonough and his step-daughter Brooke survive him. Loving grandfather to Ella, Max, Charlotte, Henry, Summer and the late Boden. Brother of David McDonough and the late Donald McDonough. As co-founder of Eastern Mountain Sports, Alan and a hiking buddy turned their passion for the outdoors into a successful business. After recognizing the need for the same high-quality outerwear for children, Alan started another retail business, The Rugged Bear. He enjoyed several outdoor activities, such as hiking and skiing, and sailed for many years off the coast of Cape Cod. He also had a great appreciation for early American antiques. A memorial service will be held at Wellesley Congregational Church, 2 Central Street, on Friday, May 27 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the church.
