Alan was a great friend to me as he was too MANY others. While he had difficult challenges in recent years I would like to remember the good times and the good friend that he was. I hope that when the grief of this moment subsides that we are all left with amazing memories of his humour, his kindness and his love for family and friends. My memories are vast...the opening days at Fenway, watching the first half of the "Snow Game" at his place in Harwichport (which he loved so much!), then driving in a raging blizzard to Wellfleet to catch the rest of it..Wresting the phone cord from around his neck after Game 6 in 86...introducing me to the Squire in Chatham and my first rolling rock beer..finally finding him after a Boston Marathon under a pile of foil blankets exhausted but proud, it wasn't really his thing but he worked so hard to achieve multiple finishes....admiring his working style - he would retire to his man-cave at 9pm flip on the Sox or Celts game and crack a beer...the 67 Sox calendar on the wall and his desktop working OT..seems he was most peaceful there and most productive. I will also remember his passion for his children and his abundant love for Mama-Doo and Macadoo and all his brothers and sisters. His door was always open to me and I will miss him.

I am deeply saddened by Alan's passing. My condolences to his family. Alan and I were close friends during grade school, junior high school, high school and our college years. Alan was a bright individual who was proud of his community and roots. Alan thoroughly enjoyed sports and loved and cherished his family. He will always remain a close friend. God bless!

My deepest condolences to all of Alan's family, and rest in peace, my friend. Alan, known to me as 'Mac' became a friend in recent years and was always an interesting and welcome guest on my trivia team. He amazed me with sports knowledge and his ability to instantly name songs from the 60's & 70's. I will miss our conversations and marathon stories.

As CFO of Gray Strayton Alan hired me as credit manager and we remained close friends until his passing (over 30 years). He was one of the brightest CFO's I ever met and a wonderful true friend we shared many good times together. I will deeply miss him.

I met Mac when I first started at TFS. He was a great guy, smart and helpful to us "newbies." And I can't forget that he introduced me to the "Harwichport Hilton" which was I think, the first syndicated real estate rental deal ever! Leave to Mac to put that together. Just a great guy and a class act who will be sorely missed by so many people.

I met Alan when I started at TFS, many years ago. I was a "newbie" staff accountant and along with Jim Ford who started the same time I did. And we just wanted to be sure we were never part of the famed (back then) "easter parade."
Alan was a senior at TFS and was just a fun guy, very smart and always willing and able to help out us new accountants. I will always remember Alan's humor and character. He introduced me to the famed "Harwichport Hilton" where I think he was the one who first put together what is now known as a syndicated real estate deal, except we just rented the house!
He was just a great guy and will be truly missed. My condolences to his immediate and extended family and to all those who were touched by Alan.
