HYLAND, ALBERT L. Jr. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on November 20, 2025. He was born to Albert L. Hyland, Sr. and Katherine E. (Ronan) Hyland, in 1938, in Boston and grew up in Medford. He graduated from Malden Catholic High School, Boston College, Lehigh University and Harvard Business School. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 61 years, Ann Marie (Leahy) Hyland; and their four daughters, Ann Whitlock and her husband, Peter, Amy Munchak and her husband, Anthony, Jeanne Hicks and her husband, Jason and Christine Phillips and her husband, Jay; and by his nine grandchildren, Finley, Thomas, Anna, Emily, Caitlin, Grace, Aidan, Matthew and Timothy, in whom he took great joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Mrs. Anne Marie Giroux of Woburn and Mrs. Kathleen E. Krein of Swansea; and by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hyland was employed by Polaroid Corporation for over 30 years, where he held several senior positions in Research, Manufacturing, and Systems Management, with domestic and international responsibility. He held several patents in photographic and battery technology and had been a Lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard. He was proud to be a Trustee and then Chair of Xavier University of Louisiana from 1991-1997, a Trustee of the Walker School in Needham from 1997-2005, and a Trustee of Pope St. John Paul XXIII National Seminary in Weston, MA from 1997-2005. He was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wayland and served on the finance committee. Visiting Hours will be held at John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd. (off Rte. 30), WAYLAND, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. His Funeral Mass will take place at Good Shepherd Parish, St. Ann's Catholic Church, 124 Cochituate Road (Route 27), Wayland, on November 24, 2025, at 10:30 am. Private Burial to follow in North Cemetery, Wayland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to Massachusetts General Brigham Cancer Center at Newton Wellesley Hospital.
