Alfred Peter KACHERGIS

KACHERGIS, Alfred Peter Age 96, of Littlebrook Road, Westerly, RI and former longtime resident of Waterbury, CT, passed away at his home, on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He was the former husband of the late Joan (Wilson) Kachergis.

Born in Watertown, CT, he was the son of the late Peter and Constance Kachergis. Al was a graduate of Leavenworth High School in Waterbury, CT, and the University of Arizona, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. He served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. Upon Honorable Discharge, he came home, entered and won the City of Waterbury Golf Tournament. This win inadvertently afforded him a job offer with Anchor Fasteners, a division of Illinois Tool Works, where he retired as Executive Vice President of Sales after enjoying more than 30 years of employment. His career as a sales executive became an integral force in reviving the American Auto Industry.

Al loved swimming at his home in Charlestown Beach, and walking his dog. A man of nature, he also enjoyed walks in the woods.

He leaves behind two daughters, Jeanie Roland and husband, James of Westerly and Jill Matteis and husband, Vincent of Lithia, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Henry Kachergis.
