DETORE, Anna Of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully, on December 30, 2025, with her husband and children by her side. Born November 28t, 1948, to Fred and Marion Lane, Anna Lane grew up in Jamaica Plain, MA. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse and spent the next ten years caring for chronically ill patients at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. Her humor, compassion and nursing skills made life better for so many ill patients. Anna loved her patients, and they adored her. She married John DeTore on April 8, 1973, and traveled to South Korea to join him on his military assignment. Anna became head of civilian volunteers and worked at the MASH unit there. After John completed his service, Anna returned to the Shattuck to work for several years before enrolling at Laboure College, where she graduated first in her class and became a Registered Nurse. Shortly after graduating, Anna became pregnant and gave birth on July 26, 1980 to their twins, Justin Lane DeTore and Nicole Rose DeTore. Anna retired from nursing to devote all her love and attention to raising her beloved twins. The DeTore family settled in West Roxbury, MA, where they lived for 34 years. Anna was a full-time Mom, until the twins reached high school when she went back to work part-time as a childbirth instructor at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. There, Anna helped so many couples on their journey through pregnancy to childbirth. Her students always raved about her on their reviews and could not wait to call her after the delivery. Anna and John later moved downtown so that Anna could be by the water, where she spent many of her days painting watercolor floral landscapes. She is survived by her husband, John, who spent the last 52 years by her side. She leaves behind her son, Justin and his wife, Catherine DeTore; her daughter, Nicole and her husband, Joseph Cahill; as well as their two children, Everett and Owen Cahill, who will miss their grandmother. Anna was happiest surrounded by her family, creating laughter with her carefree spirit. Her creativity was boundless, from photography to drawing to sewing. She will be remembered for her humor, her thoughtful gift-giving, her spunky spirit, her appreciation for a good mystery novel, and her love of her family and dogs. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be open at Robert J. Lawler & Crosby & Funeral Home, 1803 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY, MA on Monday, January 5, from 4-7pm. Funeral Service and Mass will occur at Holy Name Parish, 1689 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA, on Tuesday January 6, at 11am, followed by a small reception for relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna's memory may be made to a
