I had the honor of interviewing Dr. Ornstein when I worked in the communications department of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The article "Ornstein's Search for Meaning" appeared in the university's quarterly, DISCOVERY magazine. Dr. Ornstein shared with me some of the memories she sent to friends each year. She was so gracious and elegant, and, of course, brilliant. I've kept all of the copies of memories she shared. I loved her stories of dancing in her kitchen, preparing meals for the week on Sundays, and her love for her family which she shared during my interview. My condolences to her family members. I will never forget her amazing courage and spirit.

I was stunned to see her obituary in the New York Times. I was a patient of hers at the Clinic in Cincinnati, Ohio
from 1956 to maybe 1958. I was very depressed as a teenager and I wanted to go to
Another planet to live. My name was Janet Renner. She really helped me very
much and made a lasting impression on me.
The last time I saw her I was dating my to be husband from India. I ran into her downtown
and introduced her to him.
I have been married to
him for almost 55 years and my life has been happy.

I worked with Anna in Facing History and Ourselves before Covid. She came to our middle school in Dorchester to speak to and spend time with our 8th graders who each had a copy of her book "My Mother's Eyes." I will never forget the focus and love they surrounded her with as she perched on a desk at the front of the room speaking freely and answering their questions about her life and challenges. Anna was such an inspiration of courage, bravery and perseverance and quickly became an icon for our students. Being with Anna is among my most treasured memories, and I will never forget the impact she had on my life and the life of our students.
With love and condolences to her family,

I'm wondering........if Dr. Anna Ornstein and Dr.
Paul Ornstein were related to:
Dr. Martha Brunner Orne and Dr. Frank Orne
of Boston, MA?
Dr. Martha Brunner was a Phycologist and Dr.
Frank Orne was an OB/GYN physician. They have
both passed, many years ago, but I'm just curious
if they were related in some way?
Dr. Orne was my obstetrician back in the 60's and their son, Martin was a classmate of my husbands
at Tuft's Medical School in the 50's

I so appreciate Anna Ornstein....for her courage, her empathy, her extensive contributions to the fields of psychology and psychiatry regarding trauma. I was in the middle of researching my book on Etty Hillesum from a Jungian perspective in either '21 or '22, and I looked her up online, and saw a phone number, and called, knowing there was no chance I would get a person...and she picked up the phone! I read her article in the Journal of Psychiatry about morality in gov't and she was so gracious! She knew of Etty, and we spoke about her experience of President Trump in the first presidency which brought up for her past and similar patterns she recognized from her past authoritarianism. She spoke about her pride around her nephew doing an internship or working for Nancy Pelosi...she was so proud! It was a highlight for me, and she is in my book: The Jungian Inspired Holocaust Writings of Etty Hillesum; To Write is To Act. Its about then and now...I'd love to compare notes with that nephew!! Thank-you Dr. Orenstein, you will not be forgotten! Warmth and Respect, Barbara Morrill (Palo Alto, CA)
