ANTHONY ESTRELLA Obituary
"Tony", age 78, a resident of Billerica for 60 years, passed Monday, December 9, 2013, quietly at home cared for by family and friends. Born in San Miguel Azores, the beloved son of the late Anthony Estrella, and the late Mary (Vieira Garcia) Estrella. Anthony is survived by a sister Theresa (Teri) LaBella and her husband John F. Doherty of Wilmington, a brother John G. Estrella and his wife Diane of Billerica, a sister Rosalie (Rose) Fitch and her husband John of Wilmington. He also leaves a niece, Stacy LaBella and her daughter Cecilia Taucher of Billerica and three nephews Jacob Fitch, Joshua Fitch and Justin Fitch of Wilmington. Family and friends will gather for Mr. Estrella's funeral at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), WILMINGTON, on Saturday, December 14th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 13th from 3-7 p.m. Donations to Anthony's memory made be made to Wilmington Rotary Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 503, Wilmington MA.

My Mom, Pauline DeCarolis, has passed Oct 6th. I was holding her hand at 2am when she went to heaven.
She is at peace and I am sure she is in heaven.

As in life, so still in death I look to you for guidance. You were the role model I used to make my choices, the one I strove to do my best so you would be proud. I can't believe a heart could ache so much...be at peace my love, run... laugh....give my love to those who left before you and welcome those who will follow. I will miss you always.

Tony, My mother and I will miss you dearly. I have 2 of your paintings in my home. I will never forget the painting you gave me for my birthday. You knew how much I loved Gloucester and all my favorite memories by the ocean. I proudly hang your artwork in my new home. My mother painted with you for 30 years, and you two were best friends. I know in spirit you will be with all of us now. I will never forget your Portugal stories, and feel blessed to know I was in Portugal on 11-11-11, met the blue army ambassadors and have been blessed myself with our lady of fatima. My life is forever changed and your stories of portugal will remain with me forever.

TO THE ESTRELLA FAMILY, YOUR BROTHER PAINTED MY PORTRAIT WHEN I WAS 13 YRS OLD. AT THAT AGE, YOU ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING. TONY TOLD MY MOM, I WOULD GROW INTO IT. I DID. TONY:
Life changed you when you fell from that tree. You became a painter.
Now you can paint the heavens and I will look up in the sky. I will see you in the sunrises and see you in the sunsets and admire all the hues and colours and think of you there smiling instead.

These are the units To measure the worth Of a man, as a man.
Tony deserves the highest degree of accolades. Undoubtedly for his talents, but Tony was also such a positive person. He always looked on the bright side of life and left such a mark in this world to many people who came to know him. He was a true inspiration and I am honoured to be a part of his family. He will always hold a special place in my heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. Tony was not only talented. He was humorous, and kind. I have so many wonderful memories of him. Many as a young girl often being at the Estrella household. I will never forget him. May he rest in peace.

My heartfelt sorrow is shared with you on losing such a wonderful and talented man! I will forever cherish all the wonderful memories growing up next door and I chuckle when thinking of how he tried to turn me into artist! I think that the only reason I wanted to take art lessons was because I always had a secret crush on Tony and just enjoyed his company. He was a patient and kind man who always had a smile on his face ~ and his handicap never got in the way of all his accomplishments! He was an inspiration to all who knew him and it makes me happy to know that all his work will be appreciated for many, many more years to come. I was a student of Tony's as a kid, in the 80s. He used to try to convince us that he could walk and didn't need that wheelchair. I had dreamt of taking classes with him again; I guess it will wait until we meet in Heaven. I hope he still has his accent. Tony will always be remembered with love. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family.
