Dear Ernie,
I extend my sympathy and love to you and your family.I was shocked to read that Tony had passed away.He was always bigger than life to me.When I was a college freshman he was my adviser(strange but I knew I wanted to be a dentist way back then).I was in his 1st class at BU and had the honor to work for him Saturdays in Lynn.Although I was not one of Tony's many 'groupi's' I admired his ability to analize and develope treatment approaches that made sense.Over my years in practice I could depend on Tony for an honest and verifiable answer to those orthodonticproblems that defy solution. He was bright, welleducated and academically honest---a student's perfect teacher ,and for many of us,a lifetime teacher. The orthodontic world has lost a giant. I am sorry.
love to all,
Mike and Lee(michael rowan)

Tony and I were classmates at Harvard and shared a apartment during his first year in dental school. He was always a gentleman and a pleasure to be around. He worked one summer in Niagara Falls and my mother loved to feed him. She said Tony was starving and that she had to fill him up. While we lost touch over the years, my memories still remain vivid. My condolences go to the family who have lost a great, husband, father and brilliant man.

To the Gianelly Family;
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. G. at Dr. Allard's office in Malden many years ago. Every Friday he would come in and tell me so much about all of you.
I honestly felt like I knew you all personally. A "Wondeful" man and great Orthodontist. I always think back to all the things I learned and a fabulous friend he was to me.
I am a friend of Liz Mustone-Clavell, and I asked for him offen.
May his spirit be with you always.

I was gladdened to see Tony at the AAO last month and to spend some time with him at the BU reunion. The news of his death took me by surprise and I have thought about him every day since. The influence he had on my approach to my professional and personal life is important to me. What I liked best about Tony was that he was a regular guy - a regular guy with a giant intellect and a zest for life. I'll miss him dearly.

My cousin Tony, as part of the Harvard football backfield come to visit Yale, where his brother and cousin were students, is at the center of one of the most vivid memories of my youth. I as a boy of 8, with my 12 year old brother, attended that game on a snowy November Saturday; then that evening was with him in the bathroom of our New Haven home, watching him attend to the injuries he sustained there, and asking him 8 year old's questions.
Talk about larger than life! And I think my cousin probably remained larger than life to most of his friends and patients to the end.
Ernie, I know I speak for Andy and Bob when I express condolences for this great loss to you, the children and the family. We will be thinking of you on 6/6, and beyond.

Dear Mrs. Gianelly and family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
The world has lost one of its greatest men.
I was a student of Dr. G’s and I will always be proud to be part of his legacy. His brilliance will live on through all of us that had the great fortune of being taught by him. Through his teaching, he has enriched the lives of hundreds of orthodontists, and therefore hundreds of thousands of patients whose smiles are more beautiful – thanks to Dr.G.
He has touched all that have known him in a profound way.
Many, many thanks to Dr. G.
