Arthur Kierstead Obituary

KIERSTEAD, Arthur E. Jr Formerly of Burlington, died October 17 at his home in Thousand Oaks, CA after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Sally (Blangeard) Kierstead; sons David, Scott and Sean; daughters-in-law Becky and Tina; sister, Nancy (Kierstead) Forsythe and her husband Wayne; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Arthur was the son of the late Sgt. Arthur E. and Annette M. (Knox) Kierstead and brother of the late Marjorie Kierstead of Malden. He was a West Point graduate and served honorably as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Art worked as an executive at Gillette for 33 years. An accomplished athlete and lover of sports, he coached Little League for his sons and grandson. Funeral services and burial will take place at Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village, CA on Sat., Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Home for Little Wanderers, 271 Huntington Ave., Boston,MA 02115.

Sally,
I was stuned to read the notice in this mornings "Globe". I am so sorry for the huge loss for all of you.
My memories of car-pooling with Art from Burlington to Gillette and coaching Little League at Simonds Park are all so very good.
Art was a great guy that I really looked up to, a true role model in so many ways.
Teacher, coach, dad and friend.
