AUGUSTINE PAOLINI Obituary

PAOLINI, Augustine Joseph Age 77, died, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy, he was the son of the late Dante and Seconda (Squadrani) Paolini. Joe is survived by his wife Faith Easter Paolini whom he loved dearly and with whom he shared his work and pleasure time but most importantly his unsurpassed love for his three sons, James J. Paolini of Sudbury, Jeffery D. Paolini and his wife Anne of Framingham and Jason J. Paolini and his wife Erin of Ashland. He was the proud and devoted grandfather to six grandchildren, Nicholas, Cassandra, Hailey, Hayden, Ashley and Chiara. Joe was passionate about family and friends. He spent most of his free time enjoying life with family and friends who often became his extended family. After finishing Nichols college, he worked for various high tech companies in facilities development, and this is where he found his passion and transitioned into the private sector. Joe loved his work as a real estate developer and making his visions of those developments come to reality was his ambition to the very end of his life. He was most excited and proud of the development and the team who supported him in that development known as the Cape Arundel Cottage Preserve, a single-family community, containing approximately 263 units and located in Arundel, Maine and for which it was awarded the prestigious award of 2018 Best In American Living Community and the Mereda Award by the Maine Real Estate Dev. Assoc. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 10AM at St. Matthew Parish, 26 Highland St., Southborough, MA 01772. Entombment will follow at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham. Visiting Hours at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., (Corner of Union Ave.), FRAMINGHAM, will be Monday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Dana Faber Cancer Institute, dana-farber.org To leave a message of condolence, sign the online guestbook or directions, please visit www.nortonfuneralhome.com Norton Funeral Home Framingham, MA

Dear Faith and Family,

In the 24 years that I had the privilege to work with Joe as his in-house interior designer, I came to respect and appreciate many of his attributes. Here are three that I will never forget:

Joe was a gifted visionary. Joe was a kind, gentle visionary with a deep appreciation for natural beauty, as exemplified in the many projects that he designed and developed. He could paint a beautiful and detailed picture in his head of his next project, and then he could marshal all of the resources needed and get all of the logistics done to bring the project to reality. That is a very special set of skills! It was my privilege to be a small part of his vision of how he could make the world a more beautiful place!

Joe was a great problem - solving partner: once, while working on a large house in Weston, we were sent the wrong bath tile. While sitting on the stacks of incorrect tile in the garage of the house under construction, we brainstormed how we could use the tile in the large laundry room by changing the color scheme of that particular room, and still stay on schedule. And Joe’s final words on the incorrect tile going into the laundry room, were “we made it work”!

Joe was a wonderfully collaborative partner in developing exciting ideas for whatever project we were working on. For example, on a stormy and cold winter day in 2016 we stood outside the under-construction Community Center at the Cape Arundel Cottage Preserve and planned the design of the patio blocks that would make up the patio deck around the pool. After an hour and a half, with the cold chattering our teeth, we came to an agreement on the design, and congratulated each other! It was a successful and fun moment for us both!

In addition to his personal attributes, I will always remember Joe’s passionate love of his native Italy. Joe loved telling the story of his birth in an underground cave in the Italian countryside during WWII, and I loved hearing him talk about it. Joe was proud of and loved his birth country, the beautiful countryside, the warm and generous people, and, of course, the outstanding food! Last year, we had a wonderful conversation about Stanley Tucci’s CNN special series about Italy and its food! Joe’s deep love for Italy was evident as he waxed poetic in every story he told me about his birth place. I consider myself to have been very lucky to have been the one listening to him, and I will dearly miss those times!

The only thing that he loved talking about more than Italy, was his family, and how wonderful they all were and how much each one of them meant to him!

Joe also meant a lot to me!

I was sad to hear of Joe's passing today. Just yesterday I was thinking of Joe and the good times we had working together at Data General and Prime Computer. Joe recruited me and was the main reason I left Data General to work with him at Prime. He was my mentor and was a big help for me in my career. Joe always cared about and put his friends and family first. I will miss him and know he will be missed by all who knew him.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Joe Paolini. I met Joe in the Brigham and Women's recovery room on October 29, 2020 after we both came out of our surgeries. We were roommates and we immediately hit it off and started speaking in Italian to each other. Joe was quick to give me encouragement and advice after my surgery. I kept in touch with Joe via texting and knew he was going through a rough time but did not really know how serious his condition had become............so very sad. I know Joe is looking down with his warm, friendly smile as God has a need for a man with his work ethic and vision. "Dio ti benedica" Joe until me meet again.

I was sad to hear of Joe’s passing. Joe was three years behind me at Framingham H.S. He single-handedly raised funds to put lights up at Bowditch Field.
We lost track of each other after Jim and Jeff graduated high school. A few years ago while on a weekend in Kennebunkport I ran into him again at his Arundel project. May he Rest In Peace.

From the first time to the last time I would ever see Joe, he would always greet me with a kiss on the cheek, a wonderful smile, and a great big hug. Dear Faith, Jeff and Family,

Joe was one of the most kind at heart people we have ever known. My Mom was lucky enough to be on his team. He was a true creative genius who worked so hard to develop amazing projects while supporting his team. That is rare combination to find in a boss.
There are a few people who you know are so busy that it is very hard to attend a Friday evening wedding. Faith and Joe not only came to mine, but he was one of a few people who actually asked me if I was enjoying the evening. He gave me a break from the endless table to table greeting by dancing with me thus giving me a moment to truly appreciate the event. I will be forever grateful to them both for giving me those memories. However, most importantly he was the best boss turned “family” my Mom could have ever had. My Mom is an art teacher and designer and Joe gave her that second job at a time my family really needed it. She loved working on all the projects. They had occasional high-energy conversations that can occur between 2 creative, hard-working people. However, they were always appreciated because the end result was something that led to a more perfect development. My Mom will do whatever she can to help complete Joe’s dream Maine project. I hope to volunteer my time to do anything I can to see that through. It will be a part of his extensive legacy, but the most important part is his amazing, talented and loving family. Plus, his close staff definitely chose him as “family” and he gave them the honor treating them as such. It all speaks to the supremely warm-hearted, passionate, talented, loving man he was and everyone who had the honor of knowing him will miss him.

His love of Family family will never be forgotten. His passion for what was right and what would make the community better lived within his work daily. Holly and I will always cherish the moments we spent privately with him and his talented team at the preserve. Please know, he ended every conversation with one phrase: “Give my love to your Family”. It’s a statement, I know Joe meant! Faith, we give you and yours our support and love. Joe will continue on within us all!

So sad to hear of Joe’s passing. I am part of the landscape team at Cape Arundle Cottage Preserve. Many times over the past years I have ridden in a golf cart with Joe as we discussed work to be done or solved a problem. You could see the pride in his face as he saw his accomplishments and talked of his future visions. I learned so much from his management style. I am glad he is at peace. He will be missed, but often thought of
