Not sure what to say?

May 30, 2016

I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Boyd's passing; I so enjoyed visiting with him when he came to visit his Iowa family. I felt I had gained a piece of the Dewey family back again that I had lost when his sister, my mother, had passed away so many years before. He was such a kind gentle man and reminded me so much of mom.
He will be missed.

It was my privilege to work for Boyd Dewey at Boston University during the late 1970's. He was such a wonderful mentor, and so much of what I learned from him still serves me well in work and in life. I will always remember him with warmth and gratitude.

My Grandparents were my two favorite people. They were not just Grandparents but parents, mentors, friends, and at one point, even my Boss! My strongest memories of my Grandfather are of him working behind his desk or taking me to lunch either on campus or Brown Sugar for Thai. Every weekend I spent with them he would make pancakes and bacon. He would always let me win all of our swim races and always let me stay up late eating ice cream and watching T.V. They will both forever be in our hearts and memories. Love you.

How proud Boyd was standing at the alter marrying my Aunt Eleanor not that many years ago. The smiles they both had for each other, having found each other once again after literally a lifetime apart, was the stuff of story books. I'm sorry I could not have spent more time with him but forever thankful he passed through all our lifes here on the west coast.
Our sorrow for his east coast family and thanks for letting a little piece of him grace us!

Boyd was like a grandfather to me and I'm so grateful that he and Grandma Eleanor were able to spend several years together happily married. I miss them both so much and am so sad that I won't be able to play cards with them again. I will cherish the moments I spent with Boyd, and I am so thankful for the love and support he provided to Grandma Eleanor and the rest of her family.

Rest in peace Boyd

My handsome, kind and loving Grandfather will be missed. He was like a Father to me; he taught me how to catch a fish and how to clean one, as well as how to cook, iron, drive and so much more. One memory I keep going back to since his passing was, the two of us dancing and laughing around our living room also, one of my favorites was, going for a walk to Manns pond to fish, he had me on his shoulders with our fishing poles in one hand an tackle box in the other singing, " You get a line and I'll get a pole, honey." By, George Jones.
My memories have given me peace. He was a true Cowboy at heart and such a Gentleman.

Boyd Dewey was a colleague and a friend at Boston University's School of Education. His infectious smile, gentle demeanor, and dedication to students made SED feel like home.

Boyd was known for advising students, mentoring them, and solving problems. He also built homecoming floats, dressed up for the Senior Robing Ceremony, and carved the turkey at the SED holiday party.

Boyd made the SED community an extension of his family and he will be fondly remembered by many.

Boyd was truly a gentle man. The devotion he showed to BU students was surpassed only by the love and pride he had in his family. Very sorry for your loss.
