PREVITE, Carol There are few people who could count Cher, Bill Clinton, Hulk Hogan and former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto among their casual acquaintances. But then, Carol Previte was one of a very few people who could be completely at ease with each of them. On August 5th, Ms. Previte's battle with cancer came to an all-too-soon end. She was 65. A well respected member of the local business community, Carol began her career as a social worker in Brattleboro, Vermont, and brought her considerable people skills and genuine interest in others into the world of marketing and advertising. In the eighties, as a salesperson at Larson and Rosen, to account manager/producer, at Envision, to general manager at Carabiner to Jack Morton Worldwide, where she rose to senior vice president. The list of Carol's clients was impressive. Global companies like Liberty Mutual, Proctor and Gamble, Shire and Ahold, as well as renowned institutions such as Harvard and MIT. More impressive, however, is the number of people Carol advised as they faced major decisions in their careers and in their personal lives. She was a great listener and wise advisor, making her a trusted ally for both clients and colleagues alike. Carol was revered as a leader and mentor, in particular for those younger women just starting out in their careers. She freely shared the wealth. The same grace and charisma that defined Carol's public life also served her well in private. She played mom and fearless leader to her beloved family of dogs: Shiloh, Ruby, Sofia, Luigi and Stanley, and Soulmate to her husband of nearly forty years actor/artist/ne'er-do- well Jim Chiros. Her friendships were widespread and greatly valued. Her constant generosity, good humor and relentless energy captivated those around her. She told us stories. She made us laugh. She made us cry. She made the very best meatballs. ... She fed us all. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, October 1st, 5-7 PM at the Community Rowing Boathouse, 20 Nonantum Rd. Brighton, MA.
