When i hear an outburst of bird song, I will think of Carol and her tales of going on birdwatching expeditions with birding friends in ... Uganda, the Northwest ... and how fearless she seemed. How unafraid to take on two adult cats. She was remarkable.

My deepest condolences to Carol's family and many friends. She was a wise and generous colleague, and such good company in the lovely sociable years of the MIT Libraries of the 1980s and 90s. I am so grateful to have known her.
