Carole LUND Obituary

LUND, Carole A. (Willett) Of Westwood, MA, and Chatham, MA, died peacefully February 1, 2023, at age 89, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late John D. Lund. Loving mother of Patricia Lund and Peter Donovan of Needham, John and Tanya Lund of Hingham, and Christopher and Cheryl Lund of Cohasset. Devoted grandmother of Anthony and his wife, Allison, Carissa and her husband, John, Julie Anna, Carole and her husband, Julian, Johnny Patrick, Alexandra and her husband, Nick, Madison and her husband, Kyle, Nicole, Christopher, Michael, and Matthew. Great-grandmother of Sophie, Serena, and Grayson. Sister of the late Sally Vraibel. Also survived by many loving nieces.

On May 27, 1933, Carole was born in Brockton, MA, to Frances and Stuart Willet. After losing her father at an early age, she and her sister were raised with a "song and a dance" by her amazing mother. Carole graduated from Brockton High, going on to earn a degree from Katherine Gibbs before working at Hale and Dorr, and AT&T. While vacationing on the Cape, she met the man of her dreams and settled in Westwood. While raising her three wonderful, witty children, Carole established a successful real estate business, spanning five decades. Selling real estate wasn't work, it was her passion. She was a church soloist for 50 years and also a self-taught pianist. Her home was filled with music, love, and laughter.

The simplest pleasures brought Carole joy: morning walks in Chatham, coffee, ice cream, reading, cheap white wine, boat rides, beach days, dogs of all sizes, and flirting with tall handsome guys. Carole shared her love of life with all who had the good fortune to meet her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., WESTWOOD, on Tuesday, February 7, from 3-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning February 8, at 10am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood. Interment at Old Westwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carole's memory to Alzheimer's Association https://act.alz.org

Trisha, John and Chris please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your beautiful mother. I will always remember her singing O Holy Night at Christmas Eve Mass in St. Margaret Mary's church. Mrs. Lund sang the most beautiful rendition of that song I have ever heard. May her soul find eternal joy with the Lord.

Lorraine and Carole were the classic women of my youth.. Carlie would sit at our kitchen table and tell stories about Jonny and how he fooled the general public with his quick thinking and imaginary tales.

A phrase I remember hearing Carole say was: "Patrica was the
name we decided upon and don´t let anyone call her Pat". I always thought it was a hidden , family mystery as to whom she was named after. Perhaps, something to do with Uncle Pete?
The two gals decided in the kitchen when Chris and my brother Mark were going to be held back at school. Reading, social skills, attention span, I remember hearing as they laughed and giggled out loud about their two youngest sons.
Carole was an excellent singer and my mum would always comment on how beautiful she was as a cousin. I will miss her stories and grand character. Love cousin Jan

Trish, John & Chris, I remember your Mom, she was always very friendly to us neighbors and smiled all day long. If I remember, when we moved away from Westwood, we were one of her first real estate listings back in 1970. Prayers and thoughts to your family from our family.
