Caroline Singleton Obituary

87, formerly of Cambridge, Massachusetts, died at her home in Los Angeles on June 10th. Born Caroline Augusta Wood, the daughter of Russell A. Wood and Anna Broberg Wood, Mrs. Singleton graduated from Radcliffe College (now part of Harvard College) in 1941, then earned a Masters Degree in Sociology. She married Henry E. Singleton (M.I.T. Class of 1940) in 1942 and moved to Los Angeles with him in 1953; In 1960 Dr. Singleton founded Teledyne, Inc. Mrs. Singleton and her husband raised five children, and she was active in many civic and charitable organizations. To honor the memory of her late husband, who died in 1999, she created a fellowship program at M.I.T. to support research into brain cancer. She is survived by five children and their families, including four grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Sat., June 16, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 504 N. Camden Drive, Beverly Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to the Adult Literacy Center at the Los Angeles Library.
