CHARLES BARNEY Obituary

BARNEY, Charles Azel Died July 14, 2024. Mr. Barney was born June 14, 1931, in Springfield Massachusetts, the only child of Dorothy Brandon Barney (September 26, 1895 - October 15, 1951) of Butler, Pennsylvania and Azel Packard Barney, MD, (October 28, 1895 - May 9, 1962) of Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a child, he lived in Springfield and spent his school years in Pennsylvania. He spent a year at Allegheny College and graduated from Boston University in 1955. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Carol Yeaton Barney; and his children, Deborah Ann (Mountain View, CA), Brandon Charles and wife, Maureen (Hudson, MA), David Azel and wife, Christi (Medfield, MA); and grandchildren, Nicole Barney Schipper, DVM and husband, Kyle (Phoenix City, Alabama), Brandon, Jr. (Hudson, MA), Lori Ann and Paul David (Medfield, MA). As a resident of Stow since 1957, Mr. Barney served on the Hale School Building Committee, the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals for a total of over 44 years. His work career was spent at Ark-les Switch Corporation in Watertown, MA and later in Stoughton, MA. He enjoyed golf, canoeing and square and round dancing and particularly, the friendship of many of the dancers. Attending theater performances and Gilbert and Sullivan operettas were also favorite activities. He was devoted to his family and to the companionship supplied by several Boston Terriers. A Graveside Service will be held, at Brookside Cemetery, in Stow, at 11:00AM, on August 10, 2024.
