CHARLES CARON Obituary

CARON, Charles "Chuck" E. Age 75, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was known as Charlie to his old friends and Chuck to his family. He was born in Boston, grew up in Braintree and was a 1967 graduate of Braintree High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Jamestown in 1971 and returned to Boston, where he later met his wife, Reidun, while sailing on the Charles River. They settled in Attleboro and were married for nearly 40 years. Chuck worked at Bradlee's Warehouse for 30 years before going to work for the Massachusetts Department of Health, as a state-wide Contracts Manager for 17 years, prior to his retirement in 2018. Chuck was a past member of the Attleboro Republican City Committee and served 20 years on the Attleboro Housing Authority, serving as chairman for part of that time. Chuck loved traveling with Reidun across North America and Europe, spending time with family and reading everything from Dennis Lehane mysteries to the newest presidential biographies. He was a big Boston sports fan, especially the Bruins and the Red Sox and loved attending games with his family. You would often find him with his signature Sipsmith VJOP gin and tonic during these activities. Chuck was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Reidun (Gundersen) of Attleboro; his son, Erik and his wife, Amanda Knox; and their eight- month old son, Logan Caron of Attleboro; his son, Andrew of Pawtucket; his sister, Peggi Carini and her husband, Dennis of Hanover; his sister-in-law, Carol Caron of Manalapan, NJ; his sister, Elaine McClymonds of Rockland; and his brother, David and his wife, Susan of Marshfield. Chuck was predeceased by his father, Louis Caron Sr.; his mother, Margaret (O'Connell) Caron; and his brother, Louis Caron, Jr of Manalapan, NJ, husband of Carol. He deeply loved his entire family, including his cousins, nieces and nephews and deceased aunts and uncles. Chuck especially adored his first grandchild, Logan. The Visitation Service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, in the Duffy-Poule Funeral and Cremation Services, 20 Peck Street, ATTLEBORO, MA. The Funeral Service will take place the following day, Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., also at Duffy-Poule Funeral and Cremation Services. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We invite all who knew and loved Chuck to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. These personal stories and images will serve as a testament to Chuck's remarkable life and the profound effect he had on all who knew him. Visit www.duffy-poule.com

Hung around with Cha Cha many years ago - he was always great company with a super demeanor - used to go over his apt in Braintree where he'd make best spaghetti & sauce I've ever had

A really good guy gone way too soon. Remember games at the old Garden and weekend trips to Vermont.
