PAPAGNI, Charles P. Of Cambridge, MA, cherished son of Peter M. and Rosalie (Giacchetto) Papagni, died after a valiant fight with cancer for many years. Charlie grew up in East Cambridge, summering in Mashpee regularly, he eventually moved to Mashpee in 1984. Charlie graduated from the Cambridge Rindge and Latin school in 1967, the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1971, and Suffolk University in 1980, with a Master's in Business Administration. After working for the IRS in Boston, he worked commercial real estate on Cape Cod, including at Deer Crossing and Summerfield Park in Mashpee, as well as at Falmouth Lumber. Charlie will forever be remembered as a loving son and father, and fiercely loyal friend. He had a great affinity for animals and was a devoted caretaker to his dogs and parrot. A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and (yes) the Dallas Cowboys, he passed his sports enthusiasm onto his son Peter. They spent many a weekend day watching games together. Charlie had a great love for his country. He was particularly proud of his son's attendance at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and following service in the Navy. He loved watching Mass Maritime ceremonies and their winter cruises. Charlie shared his love of boating, fishing, the outdoors, and Waquoit Bay with his family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the Falmouth Rod & Gun club. He talked fondly of hunting trips to Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Canada, Wyoming, and Idaho. In between courses of cancer treatment, Charlie took trips to Nova Scotia and Arizona with his son Peter. His final road trip fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and Rock & Roll Halls of Fame. A guitar enthusiast, he watched the Rolling Stones exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for an hour alone! Charles leaves his devoted son Peter C. Papagni of Mashpee, several aunts and uncles, many cousins and friends. He is also survived by his former wife and close friend Miriam E Morse of Wareham. Charles was predeceased by his parents Peter and Rosalie; several aunts and one uncle; and his animals Tugboat, Tasha, Josie, and Harvey. The family wishes to thank his many doctors and caregivers for their compassion and kindness.
