CHARLES SCHELLENGER Obituary

SCHELLENGER, Charles W. "Spike" Born on May 11, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, and passed away on July 10, 2025. He was a devoted husband to the late Suzanne "Sue" W. Schellenger; and brother of E. Markley Schellenger of Paoli, PA. His children, Amy Lynch, Polly Haylon and Gil Schellenger, are honored to have a father who maintained his signature sense of humor until the end of his life. Spike took great joy in his six grandchildren, Gil, Todd, Sarah and Chase Haylon, Scott Lynch and Caroline Lynch Tuk; and ten great-grandchildren. Spike graduated from Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, PA, Class of 1949, Amherst College, Class of 1953, proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. and graduated from Columbia University Business School in 1956. He had a long and successful career in finance, serving broadcasting companies in New York City. Spike and Sue were longtime residents of Darien, CT and in retirement, lived in Naples, FL and New London, NH. Spike was an enthusiastic skier and volunteer at Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, reflecting his love of the outdoors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, at www.vermontadaptive.org At Spike's request, no Service will be held.
