CHRISTOPHER V. ADAMS

ADAMS, Christopher V. Age 78 of East Boston, passed away following a short battle with cancer. Born in Vodice, Albania he arrived in America at age 6, and was a classic example of an immigrant success story. He was educated in Philadelphia, and in his teens and early 20s had a successful career as a professional boxer. He began his business career as a restaraunteur for 20 years, expanded into the recreation industry, and successfully sold products in the food and beverage, insurance and real estate industries. He also had an interest in casino gambling and at one point broke a blackjack table, meaning he won all the chips from the dealer. He always felt a strong tie to his Albanian roots, helping cousins and other Albanians get settled in the US when the communist regime fell in Albania and the borders opened in the mid 90s. He returned to Albania in early 2000 where he led the rebuilding of Shen Koli, a church famous for its healing powers, near his home town in Erseke. He is survived by his ex-wife Elaine, children Phil and Elisa, and grandchildren Ariana, Sarah and Molly. A memorial service will be held on Sunday July 22nd at 10 AM at St George Albanian Orthodox Church at 523 Broadway St. South Boston, reception to follow at the Cathedral. Remembrances may be made to St George Cathedral, and the funds will be distributed to Shen Koli in Albania
