Christopher Hufft Obituary

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. Christopher Louis Hufft passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2024, at the age of 51. Chris was the son of the late Louis Valentine Hufft and Jane Rawls Hufft. Chris was married to the love of his life, Kelly Locklar Hufft, for 27 years. They shared three beautiful children, Gracie, Eliza, and Rawls Hufft. Chris was born on October 6, 1972, in Metairie, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis. He is survived by his beautiful wife and children, as well as his mother, Jane, his brother, Clay Hufft (Corinne), brothers-in-law, Brian Locklar (Stephanie) and Kirk Locklar, his in-laws, Jane and Henry Locklar, as well as his nieces and nephew, Peyton Locklar, Ian Locklar, and Ella Hufft. Chris was a graduate of Ridgewood Preparatory School and Louisiana State University. He received his degree in accounting and was a Certified Public Accountant. Chris had a successful career in accounting and finance, most recently serving as the Chief Financial Officer of Investar Bank. Chris was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and St. Jude the Apostle Church. Chris was professionally accomplished, but his greatest achievement was the family that he and Kelly created together. Chris and Kelly's devotion to one another was unwavering. Both in sickness and in health, Chris and Kelly's love for each other and their kids was steadfast. We should all be so blessed. Chris was the embodiment of "the nicest guy." But he was so much more than just a nice guy. He was thoughtful, loving, smart, calm and reassuring, quietly confident, funny, and playful. Chris was positive and optimistic, and he remained so throughout his battle with ALS. We can all learn so much from the way Chris lived his life. Chris was a ridiculously good golfer, having played in the Junior Masters as a teen. Although, once he had kids, he much preferred to spend his weekends with them rather than on the golf course. He loved the LSU Tigers and spending time with his friends. He was lucky enough to have several deep, life-long friendships. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love for all those who had the good fortune to know him. Chris set the tone for his family, and they were a tight-knit unit. His very favorite thing was spending time with Kelly and his three kids. He was so proud of Gracie, Eliza, and Rawls, and the young adults they have become. No doubt they will continue to live by the example that Chris set for them. We all should. When faced with a choice, we should choose to live like Chris – to lead with kindness and love, to remain positive and optimistic, to continue to learn and grow while remaining playful and fun. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:30 am, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Chris's family would like to give special thanks to Camille Tate and the Team Gleason Foundation, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Team Gleason Foundation in Chris's memory.
