David and I worked side by side for a solid 5 years while the planning and construction took place for WGBH's move to Brighton. As VP of Design and Branding at WGBH, I was responsible for working through the design goals of the building with the architect, while Dave was managing the zillion other relationships that related to the permitting and construction of the building. While I knew Dave in his role as Physical Plant Director, it was through our interactions with the new building that I developed the highest admiration and respect for Dave's street smarts, encyclopedic memory, pragmatic advice and tough-love management style. It was only recently that I grew to understand his long-standing service to the community, a commitment that would have only grown stronger in his so-called retirement. I was very saddened to hear of his untimely passing.

As a resident of Allston/Brighton and a member of the Board of Directors at the Charles River Community Health Center, (formally known as the Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center) where Dave played an intricate part in the name change and re-branding of our health center. It was always a pleasure to Dave sitting at the head of the table smiling and ready to give 110% to our meetings. While he may not have lived in Allston/Brighton, he worked there and gave his time effortlessly to our community as if he was part of it. I am terribly saddened at his passing and hope his family knows that he was well loved and respected greatly and will be sorely missed.
