DAVID PIPER Obituary

PIPER, David George, Sr. Of Naples, Florida & Plymouth, formerly of Burlington, March 13. Beloved husband of Maura Kathleen (Sheehan). David was born on January 22, 1933 in Medford, MA. He was the son of the late James and Margaret Piper. David had such a tremendous capacity for acknowledging and empowering others. He greatly impacted so very many lives. His generosity in spirit and deed was unrivaled. He lived life to the fullest in every sense. After graduation from Burlington, MA High School in 1950 David's journey to become a self-made entrepreneur began in his early twenties working for a large Boston bank repossessing cars throughout the country. Following his passion for automobiles and his drive to have his own business, he founded Cheryl Motor's, a car dealership, in the early sixties. A few years later he opened a Shell Gas Station in Burlington Center with his brother Bob and the two brothers subsequently opened up Peter Piper's Pools in Billerica, MA. In the 1970s, David began his career as a real estate developer and built the largest mobile home development in Carver MA. David Jr. worked alongside his father building these parks and Cheryl also became involved in real estate ventures with her father. Due to David's determination, drive, and instinctive business acumen there were many real estate successes. He had such a passion for real estate that he remained active in his business until his death. David pursued his love of horses and shared it enthusiastically with his children throughout their childhood traveling together as a family to 4H horse shows and the Appaloosa circuit. David relished a passion for boating with his family and friends, cruising throughout the New England coast, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and in Florida in his later years. There were many fun adventures to be had. He had a lifelong love of motor homing. With his wife, Maura, and their dogs, he criss crossed the country and visited with his West Coast relatives. For the past 22 years, David shared a joyful marriage with Maura. They treasured a connection as soulmates that was rare and wonderful. David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had the utmost respect and appreciation for his parents. In 2016, David was visiting the Burlington Police Department and noticed that his father's photograph was not displayed on the wall honoring all the Police Chiefs of the Town of Burlington. Because of his dedication to have his father honored he provided the town with newspaper articles from 1942 announcing the appointment of James C. Piper Sr. as the first full time Chief of Police. A special ceremony was held in September of 2016 honoring his father and placing his photo in its rightful place. He dearly loved his brothers and treasured his nieces and nephews. His loyalty to his friends in Massachusetts and Florida was unmatched. He had special bonds with all his canine companions and for the past ten years his beloved Bichons, Zoe and Bo, brought him so much joy. David was the beloved husband of Maura Kathleen (Sheehan). Loving father of David Piper, Jr. of Carver, Cheryl Piper of Duxbury, William Piper of Lehigh Acres, FL and the late Mark. Brother of Richard F. Piper of Nevada and the late James C. Piper, Jr. and Robert F. Piper. Grandfather of David Piper, III and Harrison Piper. Great-grandfather of Garrett & Duke Piper. A visitation will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Sunday, March 19 from 2-5 p.m. Concluding with Funeral Services at 5 p.m. Memorials in David's name may be made to www.standup2cancer.org For directions, obituary & online guestbook see www.sullivanfuneralhome.net

To the family and friends of Mr.David G. Piper Sr. I'm so deeply sorry for the loss of your loved one, but know that you can depend on God always especially now. I've found these verses to be of comfort at Psalms the 34th chapter the 17th and 18th verse.

Dear Piper family,
I was sad to hear today that Dave has passed away. Life is so precious and it passes by so quickly. It's been over 20 years since I have seen Dave, but I remember what a nice guy he was, and always kind to me. Dave was my X husband Vinnie's partner in real estate for years. They were great friends.
I send my deepest Sympathy to Dave's family. Words, however kind, can't mend your heartache. May you find strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends at this sad time. Colleen A. Brennan-Russo
