HALLORAN, Dennis B. Age 76, of Hanover. Devoted husband, father, and "Gramps," passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease on January 11, 2022. Born in Boston, October 5, 1945, Dennis was the fifth child of the late Edward J. and Theresa (Dempsey) Halloran, and later the late Anna (Dacey) Halloran. Dennis was a husband, father, and grandfather first, but also a loyal brother, uncle and friend. He was a life-long sports enthusiast, but his most favorite athletes were his four girls and his grandchildren. Some of his happiest times were spent on the sidelines of soccer and football fields, and in the stands of basketball courts and hockey rinks around New England and beyond. Dennis was a longtime employee of The Boston Gas Company. He was a highly respected union leader and former President of the United Steelworkers Local 12003. Stated best by his fellow union members, "Dennis was a force to be reckoned with. Dennis was never one to back down… All of us who are working here now are lucky to still enjoy many of the work rules, benefits, and better working conditions that his hard work and bargaining garnered for us over the years. "Legacy is not what I did for myself, It's what I did for the next generation…". Thank You Dennis for all you've done, the battles you won, the lessons you taught, and for the legacy you left behind." Dennis is survived by his first and one true love and wife of nearly 53 years, Geraldine (Manning) Halloran; his four daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Christopher Carven of Hanover, Molly and Robert Sacco of Hanover, Katherine and Brian Scott of Big Sky, MT, and Maureen and Nicholas Morwood of Hanover. He was the proudest grandfather to Grace, Mary, and Christopher Carven Jr., Christian, Dennis, Caroline, and Brendan Sacco, Frances, Margaret, John, and Edward Scott, and Theresa, Elizabeth and Charles Morwood. Dennis is also survived by his brother, Robert "Barry" Halloran of Norwell, and sister Mary Halloran Macedo of Wrentham. He was the beloved brother of the late Kenneth P. Halloran, Reverend Mother Anne O.C.D., Edward "Brian" Halloran, and Anne T. Halloran. Dennis was a treasured brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many whose lives are better having been loved by him. Visiting Hours will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Route 53, HANOVER, on Sunday from 3-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Route 139, Hanover. In lieu of the flowers, donations in Dennis' memory can be made to Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mt Carmel Rd., Danvers, MA 01923 or the Norwell VNA, 120 Longwater Dr., Norwell, MA 02061.
