DICK DOHERTY

DOHERTY, Dick 'The Godfather of Boston Comedy' Formerly of Woburn, died unexpectedly on May 1st at the age of 79. Dick is survived by his wife and best friend, Kathy Doherty. Cherished father of daughter Jaime Kenney, and her partner Steve Flanigan of Hingham, son-in-law Neal Kenney of Hingham, and son Ricky Doherty and his wife Amanda of Northborough. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Courtney Doherty. Loving son of Ella (Langill) and the late Richard Doherty of Woburn. Proud and beloved grandfather of Patrick and Ryan Kenney, of Hingham, Alex DiPadua, and Cullen Doherty of Northborough. Brother of the late Harold Doherty, and his wife Maureen of Andover. Loving son-in-law of Jean Lowe of Northborough. Brother-in-law of Joan and Steve Marks of Poquoson, VA, Ed and Kathy Lowe of Hope Valley, RI, Linda and Tim Carroll of Ashburn, VA, Tom Lowe and Jane Pond of Shrewsbury, MA, and Phil and Paula Lowe of Newark, DE. Beloved uncle of 25 nieces and nephews, and also survived by many loving cousins and friends. There will be no immediate service. A Celebration of Dick's Life will be held in September. Details will be forthcoming. Dick is a cancer survivor, indebted to Dana Farber for his outstanding care and treatment.
