DeMARINES, Dorothy "Dotty" Of Sudbury, a cherished mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully, on November 12, 2025, after a long battle with progressive aphasia. Born in Baltimore in 1937, Dotty was accomplished student and athlete, who graduated Mercy Hospital School of Nursing on scholarship. She worked as a young nurse at Mercy Hospital until meeting and marrying the love her life, Victor DeMarines, a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Their union carried Dotty from her home in the Patterson Park area of Baltimore, where she lived in a small row house with her parents and two sisters, Loretta and Mary Frances, to all around the world for Victor's work. This included living in Thailand for several years in the early 70s with her three young children, Maria, Victor and Melinda. Vic and Dotty settled on Crabapple Lane in Chelmsford, MA, to raise their family as Vic pursued his career at the Mitre Corporation, where he became CEO. They were members of Vesper Country Club in Tyngsborough, where they enjoyed the company of many friends. They later built their dream home in Westford and spent time in their favorite place, Bonita Bay, Florida. Dotty was an avid book worm and intellect. When she wasn't reading, she was doing some kind of athletic endeavor; golf, tennis, aerobics or time at the gym. She took several jobs over the years, such as working in a doctor's office, nursing home, as a basketball coach, teaching aerobics to seniors or working retail at Jordan Marsh. No activity mattered more to her however than being a grandmother to Eric DeMarines, Christopher Ferri, Larson Miller, Jenny DeMarines, Max Miller and Jonathon Ferri. She was known for her unwavering support and kindness towards others. She touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and her accepting nature but loved to laugh most of all. Her perseverance after the loss of her beloved daughter, Maria Ferri; and lifelong partner, Victor, was a testimony to her strength. Dotty leaves behind her son, Victor DeMarines and wife, Linda of Framingham; daughter, Melinda Miller and husband, Hank Miller of Weston; and was predeceased by her daughter, Maria Ferri of Windham, NH, who is survived by husband, Mark Ferri. Even during the throes of her illness, her caregivers all said the same thing, "Dotty is so sweet." She passed away peacefully in her home, with loved ones by her side, in exactly in the manner she would've wished, quietly and with dignity.
