Dorothy Gorman Obituary

GORMAN, Dorothy H. (Leahy) Died peacefully on January 10, 2012 in her West Roxbury home in the arms of her loving family and supported, with tender care, by nurses of the Visiting Nurses Association Home Hospice Care program. Beloved wife, for 58 years, of David Gorman, devoted mother to her children and their spouses, David and Jacqueline Gorman of Dekalb IL, Kathleen and Jonathan Lincoln of Bloomsburg PA, Michael Gorman and Diane Loud of Dedham, proud grandmother of Colin and Caitlin Gorman, Matthew, James and Nathan Lincoln, Macy and Graham Gorman. Loving sister of John Leahy and his wife Dorothy of West Roxbury, Mary Chamberlin and her husband John of Princeton NJ, and the late Walter Leahy of Franklin, loving sister in law of Carol McA'Nulty and her husband Donald of West Roxbury, and Mary Manetti and her husband Renald of Ossining NY, cherished aunt of 20 much loved nieces and nephews. While the family and family matters were always her priority, Dorothy derived a great deal of pride and satisfaction from her 25 year career in the administration of programs at the Ohrenberger Community Center in West Roxbury. Over the years she became a fixture at the Center, well known to program participants as a pleasant and helpful staff person and loved and respected by her fellow workers, many of whom became lifetime friends. She had a special love for the early childhood and teenage programs such as pre-school, after-school and gymnastics, and even in retirement regularly followed their activities. The Gorman family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, persons wishing to make a memorial gift send a donation, in her name, to the Ohrenberger Community Center Council Inc. at 175 West Boundary Road, West Roxbury, MA 02132. Funeral arrangements are by Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre Street West Roxbury. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the funeral home on Friday January 13 from 4 to 8 pm. A private Funeral Service will be conducted in the Forsyth Chapel at Forest Hills Cemetery on Saturday January 14. www.lawlerfuneralhome.com Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home 617-323-5600
