What a great talent. Great loss. My prayers do the family. And friends and friends.

From the "Ancient History" File: I worked with Doug during his time as News Director in Portsmouth, NH and again, in Portland ME in the late '70s - early '80s. He was obviously destined for WHDH or legendary WBZ from the jump; the natural storytelling style, often spiced with good-natured humor and self-awareness defined his excellence covering hard news, doing features, and as a co-worker and friend!
Doug's loss hits hard, even after so many years of not being in touch. The world of professional Broadcasting...and the world at large...have a gap that will take forever to fill. Well done, my friend!
RIP Doug,
"Mike O'Neal

We´ve lost one of the good ones, with Doug´s passing. Doug was a great journalist and an even better friend. We had a lot of laughs together. You couldn´t help but smile when Doug was in the room. He was kind, compassionate, funny as hell, a goof ball and smart as a whip. This is a very tough loss for all who knew him. Doug, you will always be in my heart. I hope you are at peace, my friend.

Doug was my colleague at MassDOT in the early 2000s. He was smart, funny and utterly unflappable, even under the most stressful circumstances. He had a tough job but made it look easy, and treated everyone with respect. Condolences to his family and colleagues at WBZ. He was a good man.
