Douglas Lesperance, 72, of 41 North Avenue, Attleboro, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed on Monday, June 4, 2007 at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of Louise C. (Prophet) Lesperance.

Born in Attleboro on February 14, 1935, Douglas was a son of the late Eugene and Alice (Drown) Lesperance. He was raised and educated in Attleboro and was a graduate of Attleboro High School.

During the Korean War, Mr. Lesperance served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting on August 28, 1953 to discharge on August 27, 1956 followed by service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve until being honorably discharged on August 27, 1961. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Lesperance was employed by the Sweet Manufacturing Company in Mansfield for over thirty years and later retired from Dion Jewelry Company located in Attleboro. Following retirement, Douglas was employed on a part-time basis at Willow Tree Poultry Farm in Attleboro.

A proud veteran, Mr. Lesperance was a member of the Attleboro V.F.W. and was a Western movie fan. He was also a loyal and proud New York Yankees baseball fan. A resident of Attleboro the past forty years, Doug earlier resided for ten years in Mansfield.

In addition to his beloved wife, Louise, Douglas is survived by two sons: Douglas Lesperance, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Attleboro and Raymond Goyette of Orlando, FL; a daughter: Joann P. Vose and her husband, Neal of Attleboro; five grandchildren: Ashley Lesperance, Danielle Lesperance, Matthew Vose, Adam Vose and Michael Goyette; a brother: Richard Lesperance of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters: Shirley Lesperance of Attleboro and Joan Faria of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Paul Goyette and brother of the late Lloyd Lesperance and Mildred Dumican. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, June 8, 2007 from 9 AM – 11 AM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro followed by a funeral service at 11 AM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Garvin Warden, Pastor of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Attleboro.

Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in the V.A. National Cemetery of Massachusetts, MacArthur Blvd., Bourne accompanied with full military honors from the U. S.
