McGRATH, Edmond J. "Ned" Of South Boston, peacefully entered eternal life on November 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of Janice (Sweeney) McGrath. Devoted father of Jaclyn McGrath. Cherished brother of Pat and Steve Foley, Jack and Patti McGrath, and the late Mary Ellen "Lala" Scully and her late husband, Robert Scully. Treasured brother-in-law of Joanne and Willie Wilkerson. Loving uncle to Jill Nash, Stephen Foley, Jennifer Lynch, Sean McGrath, Erin Gately, and several grandnieces; grandnephews; cousins; extended family members; and dear friends. Born in South Boston on November 17, 1956, Ned was the beloved son of the late Edmond "Ed" and Margaret "Kitty" (Kerrigan) McGrath; and the devoted son-in-law of the late Jay and Helen (Casey) Sweeney. Visiting Hours will be held at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, on Tuesday, November 11th, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Gate of Heaven Church, 615 East Fourth Street, South Boston, on Wednesday, November 12th, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private. Ned was a proud member of Glaziers Local 1044.
