Dr. Hartman was my entire family's physician for over 10 years. A few years ago, right after Christmas, I came down with a nasty cold. I saw Dr. Hartman to rule out anything more serious. I told him exactly how I thought I got sick: My husband sings in the church choir and the priest thought it would be a great idea on December 23 of that year, to do a flash mob Christmas songfest at the South Shore Plaza. So I, along with other family members and friends, braved the South Shore Plaza parking lot, crowds, and germs and we waited at our appointed spot in front of Macy's. And we waited, and waited, and waited. We took turns walking around the mall to see if anything was happening, but there was nothing. After about 1 1/2 hours, we left. At little while later my husband got home and I said "What happened?" He said, "Didn't you see us?" I told him we were where we were supposed to be and nothing was happening. He then told me the priest changed the spot to in front of Sears instead of Macy's. "And you didn't think to let me know?" I said. "I was caught up in the moment" he said. I was so mad I didn't talk to him for days! As I was telling this to Dr. Hartman, his hand went up in front of his mouth and his shoulders started shaking up and down with laughter! He said, "So you went there to see him and he was at a totally different place in the mall and he didn't even let you know? That's the last place you want to be if you don't want to get sick!" Thank you, Dr. Hartman. A few weeks later my husband saw him for his physical and wouldn't you know Dr. Hartman brought up the whole incident. Apparently they had quite a few laughs over it. That's the kind of doctor he was. He listened, he cared, he remembered. And we will remember him. I hope this little bit of humor brings a smile to his family and to all those who are missing him so much.

Both my husband and I had the privilege to have Dr. Hartman as our PCP for many years. He had the ultimate bedside manner, was extremely professional and always delivered any news with a kind and compassionate manner. Doctors such as him are few and we are grateful that we were fortunate to call ourselves his patients.

To all the Hartmans,

Eddie was one of my closest friends at Tucker Elementary School in the late 70's. We were two Jewish kids in a town of mostly Irish Catholics. We were always the smartest ones in the class, and were doing 6th grade math in the 3rd grade. I have not had any contact with him since probably the 6th or 7th grade, but I remember him as a good kid, a good friend, and someone who had a good sense of humor. We had lots of good times, including playing the first video games ever created - table tennis on his TV. It is no surprise to me that he became a doctor, and a successful one. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. You are all in my thoughts, and I will pray that he rest in peace.

Dr Hartman was one of the nicest person I ever meet. My husband was one of his first patients he treated my husband with respect and like he was the only patient. My husband is pretty ill and dr Hartman was so kind to my husband. Dr Hartman treated my son so nice anytime I called dr Hartman himself returned my call. My daughter really liked him they would always joke she would tell him you wore that tie last time. Dr. Hartman was always there for me and my family a very rare quality you do not see from anyone. We all loved him thank you so much for taking care of my family I have so much respect for you my husband would talk to him and dr Hartman always listened . My husband said he even had a goofy laugh, he probably did. What an amazing person you are.
