McTAGGART, Sr. Elaine SNDdeN Sister Elaine McTaggart (formerly Sister Bernard Marie), 94, went peacefully home to her good God, on November 27, 2025, at the Saint Julie Residential Care Center, in Ipswich, MA. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur February 2, 1949, taking her First Vows July 30, 1951 and Perpetual Vows July 30, 1954. Sister Elaine was a true community person. She loved being with her sisters: sharing meals, prayer, laughter, and the ordinary moments of daily life. Wherever something was happening, she was there: fully present, engaged, and happy to be part of it. Her wonderful sense of humor brought lightness and joy to those around her, and her steady, "tried and true" spirit made her a trusted companion in ministry and in community. Sr. Elaine graduated from St. Gregory High School in Dorchester and earned her B.A. in English at Emmanuel College in 1962. She went on to receive her M.ED in Math and her C.A.G.S. in Counselling in 1983 at UMass, Boston. Throughout her years of service, Sister Elaine gave herself generously, whether in ministry, in prayer, or in the quiet support she offered to countless others. She served as teacher and principal at St. Rita, Lawrence, Blessed Sacrament, Cambridge, St. Charles, Woburn; St. Gregory, Dorchester; St. Lawrence, Lawrence, St. Ambrose, Dorchester and Arlington Catholic, Arlington. She will be deeply missed by her religious community, her family, and all who were blessed to know her. May she now rest in the peace of the God she served so faithfully. Many nieces and nephews survive her. Her siblings, James McTaggart, Edward McTaggart and Louise McGrath predecease her. Sr. Elaine is also survived by her Sisters and Associates in the Notre Dame community, her many friends and former students, and the devoted staff of the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center.
