There are some people you meet in life who inspire you in subtle ways. Some people you look at and say to yourself, "She did it right. I should learn from her." How blessed I have been to know Nonnie. And how even more grateful I am to have come to be a part of her loving and amazing family. Nonnie inspired me to be a better person, a better wife, a better mother. And her influence carries on through my husband and her great grand children. When this world is crazy and everything seems to be getting more chaotic, you can always rely on love. Nonnie's love for her family above all else will serve as a reminder that love conquers all. Bless her memory and the legacy she has left for all of us.

Our sincere condolences to the DiStefano and Oliva families on the loss of a beautiful and truly gracious woman. Our family has fond memories of meeting Helen and Dom and their families in the Catskills in the 1970s and 80s.
Our mother, Laura Cannata (nee Della Gioia of Stratford, Connecticut) always talked about her Oliva cousins. There's a beautiful story behind these visits to the Catskills. Back in Italy, late in the 19th century, Laura's maternal grandparents (the Intontes) invited an orphaned family to live with them; one of them was Helen's Mom, Maria. Maria later settled in Dedham, Massachusetts where she raised her nine children. Our mother's family in Connecticut and the nine Oliva children were very close when they were young, and they got together often. And they remained close for the rest of their lives.
Rest in peace Helen.
Much love,
Ron Cannata, Janice Garnett and Debbie Christof, Toronto Canada
