Elizabeth B. HALL

HALL, Elizabeth B. "Betsy" Age 86, passed away unexpectedly, on September 13, 2025, at the Mass General Brigham Hospital, following an infection. Surrounded by her loving siblings and her cherished and devoted daughter, she died peacefully in her sleep.

Born in Milton, Massachusetts, in 1938, Betsy was an alumna of Milton Academy and Bradford College. She further enriched her education abroad at the University of?Florence. Throughout her full life, Betsy embodied unlimited energy, refined style, effortless grace, boundless love and a smile that made her sparkle.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, W. Tilden "Tony" Hall of Westbrook, Maine; and by her sister, Maria Teresa Michie (Ian) of London, England. She is survived with great affection by her daughter, Lisa Hall; and granddaughter, Matilda Allen, both of Town Hill, Maine; her siblings, Franklin Reece (Sam) of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Edward Reece (Mary) of Chicago, Illinois, Polly Merrill (Tom) of South Hamilton, Massachusetts; along with nine nieces and nephews and ten great-nieces and great-nephews.

A longtime resident of Boston's vibrant South End neighborhood, Betsy delighted in her community and served as a dedicated steward of its culture and appearance. She held board positions at the Ellis South End Neighborhood Association, as well as her condo association and spearheaded volunteer community beautification initiatives, like Crite Park, for her neighbors and friends. Her leadership of the Associates of Boston Public Library re-energized the annual "Literary Lights" event and left a lasting impact on this renowned library program.

Betsy will be deeply missed by the many who loved her: family, dear friends and the broader community who knew, worked with and admired her. A Memorial Service to Celebrate her Life will take place on November 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Dedham, Massachusetts. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to join in honoring her memory.
