Ellen, 11 years have passed quickly since 2010 and on many occasions memories of you, come back to me. Your fun personality was one of your greatest assets, as well as many others. You are missed and thought of always.

Keli, I am so sorry I am only just hearing about your mom. She was such a wonderful person and I feel priviledged to have met and gotten to know her over the last few summers. Give my love to Harry and Kevin. My thoughts are with all of you during this most difficult time.

To: Harry, Kelli, Michael and to my dearest friend, Susan Connolly.
I first met Ellen when I was a teenager growing up on O'Callaghan Way in the Old Harbor Village. I spent a lot of time at the Connolly's house then, and Ellen always greeted me with a big smile and I always enjoyed being around her. She was a beautiful person inside and out. In later years, she and my sister, Diane Foley, became very close friends. I will remember her always.

Hi Keli and Michael, It was so difficult yet wonderful to be at the Mass yesterday. Thank you Michael for sharing your story as it remains as the memory of your mom. It was really helpful to know what her last two months entailed.
I am sharing the following daily meditation which I read this morning and it immediately resonated with me and I wanted to share it with you. I hope it helps.
Wishing you peace, comfort and understanding. Renee DuChainey-Farkes (cousin)
Smiles Breaking Through Tears
Dying is a gradual diminishing and final vanishing over the horizon of life. When we watch a sailboat leaving port and moving toward the horizon, it becomes smaller and smaller until we can no longer see it. But we must trust that someone is standing on a faraway shore seeing that same sailboat become larger and larger until it reaches its new harbor. Death is a painful loss. When we return to our homes after a burial, our hearts are in grief. But when we think about the One standing at the other shore eagerly waiting to welcome our beloved friend into a new home, a smile can break through our tears.

Dearest Harry, Keli and Michael,
The great sense of loss and emptiness you feel is felt by all who loved Ellen. Adjusting to this loss and lonliness will not be an easy journey but knowing that she is in the arms of the Angels and walked into the Gates of Heaven and she is at Peace. You are all bonded together forever under the love of God.
"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to give you Hope and a future" The love and joy in Ellen's laughter and love of life she gave all who loved her... will be the Sunshine in your hearts whenever you days get cloudy.
You know she is making a difference in Heaven, as she has made in everyones heart on earth. I will treasure the conversations she and I shared forever. It truly was a gift to me and George to have known Ellen Connolly. An amazing gift to us all.
Peace and love, Joni and George Fine

Dear Michael,
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.
