Summer will never be the same on Maple Avenue without Mary Louise and Ernie!

Rob, Hudson and I have lived next door to Ernie and Mary Louis in Centerville for almost 20 years, from the day we moved in they were such lovely neighbors. Our garden path to their house was fondly called the "Martini Path", and we were welcomed at their home for gin and tonics many times. Our son Hudson will miss those late night card games with Mary Louise and talks with Mr. Henderson about our family heritage going back to 1636 on the Cape. Ernie was so supportive of Hudson when he started rowing for Cape Cod Rowing.

What a class act you were ... we raise our glass to you ... Ernest Henderson the Third!!!

Respectfully,
Jane, Rob and Hudson

On behalf of the Board, scientists and all the employees of Boston Biomedical Research Institute, I am writing to express to you our deepest sympathies and condolences. Ernie was a great supporter of BBRI and a devoted and valued member of our Board, managing the Institute's resources as Treasurer and Chair of the Investment Committee for a great many years. He believed deeply in the great work being done by our scientists, and was constantly exhorting everyone involved to do more. His generosity was an inspiration, and in recognition of his many contributions to BBRI, the Board established the BBRI Founder's Society, and named him as the initial member. One of my fondest memories of him was after scientists had presented their research to the Board, much of which was beyond the understanding of many in the room, Ernie would invariably and unabashedly break the ice by asking a question that was on the minds of most others in the room but who were too embarrassed by their ignorance to ask it. I also enjoyed his well-developed wry sense of humor. The world is a better place for his having been part of it.

I have fond memories of a couple of New Year's Eve parties during and after Wells years, and a summer party in Cape Cod (where I first ate an artichoke). Haven't thought about that in years!
My sympathy and prayers to Roberta and Spike.

Our deepest sympathies to Roberta, Spike and their family for Ernie's passing. He was a gentle, caring, kind soul who had a smile that lit up a room. I have fond memories of listening to his stories and bringing Zorro to visit "Grampa". Ernie will be sorely missed. At least he is with Mary Louise (and Zorro) now. May your fond memories carry all of you through this dark time. I will miss those mismatched suits and funky ties :)
