Frances Gudjonsson Obituary

Age 59, of Merrimac, passed peacefully Sunday morning, Sept. 23. She was the loving wife and best friend of 42 years of David R. Gudjonsson. She was in bed at home, surrounded and comforted by the warm and everlasting love of her husband, two daughters and son. Born in Revere, November 1, 1947, she was one of eight children of the late Frank J. and Thelma P. (Jarbo) Foley. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Jennifer Pagan (husband Keith), Kristin Broadrick (husband Tim), son, David Gudjonsson, Jr. and five grandchildren; Alyssa, Zoe, Olivia, Oliver and Nora; seven siblings, Frank Foley, Jr., Sharon Murphy, John, Michael, Daniel, Philip and Gerald. Her best friend, Gail Kinsella, predeceased her. Her love of the beach and ocean was surpassed only by the love for her family. You could find her every year at the Union Bluff, at York Beach, where she made great friends with the wonderful staff. She also enjoyed riding throughout the countryside on the back of her husband's motorcycle. It filled her with a wonderful sense of freedom. But most of all she enjoyed Christmas. She would decorate extensively, fueling the excitement and anticipation of her children and grandchildren. She loved seeing the joy and wonderment on their faces. Her recent love was that of Hawaii, a place where she and her husband discovered the spirit of Aloha. All relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life, to be held Saturday, September 29, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lafayette Club, 11 High Street, Amesbury. Drop in for 5 minutes or stay for the evening. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the following charities - Camp Card NE, www.campcardNE.info (603)-502-6250 or (207)-363-3193, benefitting autistic children and their families or Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Ave., Rabb 430, Boston, MA 02215 Hematology/Oncology, in memory of Frances Gudjonsson, helping to fight and treat cancer. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, MERRIMAC.

To David Gudjonsson Sr. and family,

My thoughts and prayers with you all. Mr. Gudjonsson, though me and my father only met her once, your wife was so welcoming and friendly. A lovely woman indeed.

Frances, ah, my baby sister. There isn't enough space here to wax eloquently, but you know I could do that. And about you, it would be so easy. I love you, I'll miss you, I think you know how much. Life is good where you are now. Somehow we'll get along without you, but you know you will never be forgotten. I will miss your laughter and that seriousness that always seemed to keep me honest - like you always knew what was going on. All were inspired by your strength, all were charmed by your love and caring; all will remember you forever.

Love and prayers forever,

Frankie
