GEORGE DELANO Obituary

DeLANO, George H. 83, son of the late Ralph & Vera DeLano, a longtime resident of Randolph, MA, passed away on October 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health. George was the beloved husband of Virginia "Ginny" (Nugent Lum) DeLano. In one of his last conversations shortly before his passing George said his years with Ginny were the "45 happiest years of my life." George and Ginny were very proud of their "blended" family. George is survived by his wife Virginia, and their children Deborah DeLano-White and her husband Kenneth of Salem, NH, Pamela Horgan and her husband Richard of No. Attleboro, MA, Wayne DeLano and his wife Mary of Middleboro, MA, Mark DeLano of Lynn, MA, Robert Lum and his wife Tina of Abington, MA, Ronald Lum and his wife Lucy of Randolph, MA, and Richard Lum of Randolph, MA (his late wife was Betty Miller). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his late son's wife Christine DeLano of Taunton, MA and his sister-in-law Mildred DeLano of Randolph, MA. He was predeceased by his parents, his son Robert DeLano and his brothers Dexter & Ralph DeLano. George was a proud US Navy veteran and a successful businessman. He and his late brother Ralph owned and operated Weiss Sheet Metal in Avon, MA for over 40 years. George was extremely pleased that he and Ralph were able to pass the business onto a second generation who have continued to run and grow the business into its 50th year. George was most proud of being known as Dad, Daddy and Grampa by his loving family. His quiet leadership, his mentoring, his many kindnesses, and his "Pisces" sense of humor will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visiting hours Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 N. Main St.(Rte. 28), RANDOLPH, MA 02368, immediately followed by a "Time of Remembrance and Sharing" at 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to: The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to The American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701. Dear DeLano and Lum families,
I have so many heart warming memories of George it is impossible to mention all. In my memory I can still see the sign in front of the homestead advertising the lawn mower repair service that George provided to the neighborhood. How his remarkable mechanical ability was passed on to his sons and the wealth of knowledge and know how he always was to all of us who knew him. The passing of time during those lazy days of summer in the field playing ball, and not to forget tree houses that hung stories in the air that George engineered. I am so thankful to have known him and are deeply saddened by his passing. I am sure he is in heaven today with his son and my friend Bobby and Ralph and Dexter solving some mechanical problem on the streets of gold.As George starts his next journey into eternity with his Lord I'm sure he will receive a well done my faithful servant and may even get the handshake and see the smile of an old neighbor or two. Rest in peace old neighbor and thank you for what you gave us all while spending your time here on earth. You will be sadly missed.
With Love!
Frank ,Renee and the entire Diauto family.
