McMANUS, George L. "Mac" Of Brighton, Melros and Reading, MA, passed away peacefully, on November 11, 2025 - fittingly, on Veterans Day. He was 97 years old, and had lived independently until a recent fall a few months prior.

Born in Boston in 1928, George, fondly known as "Mac," lived a long and admirable lifegrounded in love, service, and quiet strength. He was happily married to his beloved wife, Geraldine (Moynihan) McManus, for 65 years until her passing in 2018. Together they built a life marked by deep devotion, unwavering support, and joyful partnership.

Mac proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II, an experience that shaped his character and remained a point of great pride throughout his life. Following his service, he continued his commitment to his country by working as a United States Customs Inspector.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah McManus of Reading, MA; his granddaughter, Brittany Fife of San Diego, CA; his son, Brian McManus and his wife, Venere of West Suffield, CT; and his niece, Mary-Ann Ranney/Gawthrop of Tamassee, SC. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness,

integrity, and love that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Mac was a great man - steadfast, compassionate, and quietly exceptional. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to share in his long, well-lived life.
