GRAHAM ATWELL LONG

LONG, Graham Atwell A longtime resident of Westwood, passed away on Jan. 26, 2019. Beloved son of the late Alton R. and Lillian E. (Graham) Long and dear brother of the late Alton R., Jr. Survived by his loving brother, Norman G. Long of Natick; his niece Janice Cavanagh, and her husband Patrick, of Natick; his nephew Jeffrey Long, and his wife Joanne, of Myrtle Beach, SC; his sister-in-law, Barbara Long of Brewster; as well as seven grandnieces and nephews, and dear friends. Graham graduated from Westwood High School in 1953, and continued his education at Boston University, graduating in 1957. He was also a graduate of the American Savings and Loan Institute in 1967. Graham chose a career in the banking industry and worked for the Dedham Cooperative Bank for 41 years, including 24 years as President and CEO, retiring in 1999. Faith was an important part of Graham's life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood, serving as a lay preacher, Chairman of the Board of Deacons and of the Board of Missions, Moderator, financial secretary, and a trustee. He was also a dedicated Mason, serving as the Worshipful Master of Constellation Lodge in Dedham, as the Past Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of MA, and as a member of St. Bernard Commandery #12 of Boston. Graham had a passion for travel and called it his hobby. He traveled throughout the world to Europe, South America, Africa, Australia, and China, (where he walked the Great Wall), enjoyed multiple cruises and transatlantic crossings on the QE2, and had a special love for the City of London. Music was another love of Graham's. He played the piano and organ and spent many treasured evenings at the Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts. Every spring Graham's yard would blossom with a beautiful abundance of tulips. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 1st, from 9 to 11 am, at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St., WESTWOOD, followed by a Funeral Service at the First Baptist Church, 808 High St., Westwood, at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Old Westwood Cemetery.
