GREGORY LAHAM Obituary

LAHAM, Gregory H. Independent Pharmacist Of Westwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022, from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. He was 73 years old. He leaves his dear and devoted wife of 51 years, Deborah (MacLean); and two loving sons, James G. Laham and his wife, Lisa of Chelmsford and Keith G. Laham and his wife, Jennifer of Dedham. He was the cherished "Grampy" to Martin, Jordan, and Savannah Laham. Also survived by many family members, nieces, nephews, friends, and a close cadre of longtime employees that he considered to be members of his extended family. Dear brother of the late Jeffrey Laham. Loving son of the late Herbert and Lorraine (Deban) Laham. Greg was a proud graduate of Boston Latin School (1967) and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, class of 1973. He was the owner of Sullivan's Pharmacy in Roslindale since 1976. Through his dedication, work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit, he was able to grow his small corner drugstore into a sprawling healthcare business that has touched the lives of people all over the State. Greg was influential in every community in his life. In pharmacy, he served on the boards for many professional organizations, including the Massachusetts Independent Pharmacist Association (President), the Boston Association of Retail Druggists (President and Chairman), Northeast Pharmacy Services Corporation, Boston Medical Center, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy where he served as the chairman of the building committee. Beyond his time with various organizations, he was a constant ambassador for independent pharmacy, and he worked as a pharmacy consultant for various news sources and media outlets. He would often dedicate his time to speak to students about the virtues of a career in independent pharmacy and was proud to have been preceptor to many young pharmacists that carried on the independent tradition that he loved. For his work in pharmacy, he received the Bowl of Hygeia award. He also served on the boards of many organizations in his local community including the Greater Roslindale Health Center, Southwest Boston Senior Services, the Roslindale Village Main Street Program (Founding member and President), and the Roslindale Board of Trade (President). For this, he received the Roslindale Village Man of the Year and the Hermina F. Clark Community Service Award. Greg's church community was no different. He was very active in his church and served on the Board of Directors for St. George Antiochian Church and the Board of Trustees for the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Greg loved to travel with family and friends. He loved all sports, but especially the Patriots. Most of all he loved coaching his son and then grandsons' football teams. He loved watching his grandsons play football and always wanted to be in the stands cheering them on. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 55 Emmonsdale Road, West Roxbury. Funeral Service to be held at the Church on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. Greg's family requests masks in the Church, please. Interment immediately following at The Gardens Cemetery in West Roxbury. Greg afforded deep respect and kindness during our business relationship. A true gentleman with a heart of gold who problem solved without conflict. Thank you for making the world a better place Greg. You will be sorely missed and remembered well.

Greg offered an abundance of time, resources and leadership to successfully revitalize Roslindale Village. He was a founding Member of Roslindale Village Main Street and key contributor to the health and well-being of the entire neighborhood. I am, and all of us should be grateful for his activism and leadership in many aspects of community life.

I´d like to share my everlasting thanks for a man that was instrumental in making me the person I am today. I came to Sullivan´s as a 19 year old kid that knew nothing of the business of pharmacy. Greg showed me that you could create a family out of the people in your community as well as your coworkers. I am forever grateful for his wisdom, friendship and generosity. I hope he realized even a fraction of what he meant to all of us. We will miss you Greg but will work as you taught us to make you proud

I am so sorry to hear of Greg´s death. I had the privilege of working with Greg when the Sisters of St Joseph in Brighton initially contracted with Sullivan´s Pharmacy for pharmacy needs many years ago. Greg was always kind, professional and creative in helping to meet the sister´s needs in multiple locations. He will be sorely missed by his extraordinary staff, so many of them "long termers" and his son who carries on his legacy. May Greg´s family, friends and staff be comforted by their memories of a wonderful man.

Deb,
How sorry I was to learn of Greg´s passing. His smile, his energy and enthusiasm towards all things MCP related, had a huge impact on the success of our college.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
