It´s been 14 years since the last time I heard your voice. Life has not been the same without you. Our daughter finished High School in June of this year and I thought of you and how proud you would of been of her. She looks just like you and she is so gifted as you were. Words CAN NOT describe how much I miss you. You took my heart with you when you left us. All I have left of you is Our daughter and your name which I will carry with me until the day I die. I carry you in my heart and in my thoughts forever. If anyone reading this would like to get in touch with Greg´s wife or daughter, you can email me at [email protected]. My Greg was my Everything and I´m so honored that he gave me Our daughter Tiaja who is the image of her Father. I will always love and carry Greg in my heart forever until we see eachother again...

Rest In Peace SGT. Wright thank you for everything you did while you were here with us and thank you for everything you do now. Hard to imagine it's been 13 years since you met the lord and I'm happy knowing you are at the side watching over us all. It was good serving with you at MAANG - 101st Combat Engineer Bn. First to fight for the right and to build our nations might and the Army kept rolling along. Thank you Greg for your service and sacrifice.

you saved my marrage, you inspired me in everyway to be better. im writeing this to you from afghanistan, in a way, im still fighting for you, of all people, you always knew the words it took to make all my pain go away, even if it was just for a moment. i want you to know, that you didnt die, not in my eyes, you lived, as a hero, as one of the few soldiers that would gladly give the shirt of your back to help another, as a man that would do anything and everything, to put a smile on someones face. for that, i thank you. i miss you, as everyone misses you. you touched the hearts of every person you met, and no one will forget you. no sacrific to great, no mission to dificult, duty first, always first. diehard.

SGT Wright, you have been unforgetable to me. I will never never forget the first day you showed up to our company, or the last mission i ever ran with you. I will never forget the crazy ideas and things you did with us all, we were a great team. The day you died is etched in my head. I will never stop thinking of that day, knowing that you were there in my stead. I truly believe your sacrifice that day in taking my place so I could be with my family is the greatest thing anyone could have ever done for me. Not only did you die with great honor for our country but you gave me and my family the gift life in a whole new way, that could have or should have been me that day. Thank you SGT Gregroy Wright. You will always hold a place in my heart as well as my family. We will never forget you.

I will never forget the stories of you growing up in Jamaica. I still laugh at the tales of you climbing trees for coconuts with only your trusty machete. You were an outstanding soldier that was fighting for your adopted country. I will never forget, I have only one wish, that you be waiting with a bottle of that rum in the dusty bottle. Rest in Peace

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Gregroy, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

A few days ago on the radio I heard that a Gregory Wright from Boston was killed in Iraq. I am from LI (now Boston) and read Newsday as a kid. While looking on line I saw this site and found this lousy news. I served with Greg with the 101st Engineer Bn. MA Army National Guard, and was a roommate of Greg for a time while we served as Force Protection at Camp Edwards Ma in 2004. I left the mission and lost tract of Greg. I would see him in the field when our units were training and I had not seen him for a while, which often happens as we were in different companies, Me Charlie and he Alpha of the 101st. I had no idea he went active duty. I did not know Greg that well as we worked different shifts, but we watched sports on TV and would share & cook food, have some beers and things like that. Greg I was worried it was you on the news. And it was. I pray for you and your family. I will never forget you as you are the first Brother in arms that I personally know that was KIA. God bless you and your family. I can still hear your laugh and your booming voice. I'll see you up in Heaven some day Bro. Rest in peace. SGT. E. Scott Elba Charlie Company 101st Engineer Bn. MANG

Conroy Wright .
Sir ,
Sitting waiting to disembark from a flight from Washington DC last
night I watched as people retrieved items from the overhead
compartments . As a cardboard box was eased out I wondered it's
contents until first seeing it was triangularly shaped , then that it
had " Sgt " with a name written on one of the sides with a marker . It
was a folded flag .
Leaving the area we spoke briefly , directly , you in a soft voice .
I will remember you , and wish you well into the future .

This entire nation morns this loss and will pray that
he may rest in peace and be known to all the country, by name, for the sacrifice he made.
