Mavis-I met Hans when working on the Friends of Goodnow Library committee. We had a chance to work again during the initial planning of the September 11 Memorial Garden. I was always so impressed and awed by Hans's love of Sudbury and doing right by his fellow citizens. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Mavis - I'm sorry to hear about Hans' death. Hans had a huge impact on my early career when I worked in his Department in Boston. He taught me many things about research and more importantly, strength, integrity, and professionalism. The lessons I learned in those years served me well for the rest of my career. He will definitely be missed.

Hans was such a source of strength for many. On a personal level, he was a great friend who told you when you were doing things right and when you were doing things wrong. He took a chance on a young man from Georgia, which opened a door that would have otherwise never existed...he is missed in many ways....
