I first met Hank in Kaduna, Nigeria where he had come to work in the Department of Justice dealing with native (Sharia) courts. We hit it off right away. He had gotten his bachelors and law degrees from Harvard and I had spent two years at MIT and was working in the Treasurer's Dept in Kaduna. Hank had played football at Harvard and was their Captain his senior year. I played basketball at my college and was also captain my senior year. It just happened that Kaduna had a rugby field and team so we both joined it. I had not known at the time that Hank played club rugby at Harvard so he had an advantage on me. We played for the Kaduna team and ended up winning and played in Lagos against a Southern team so it was a good year, with many thanks to Hank. Hank's favorite aspect of rugby games were the parties after where beer flowed freely and the British Rugby songs were sung loudly.

Hank and I often had breakfasts together at his or my house and he was always humorous and fun. He did travel a bit to the native courts so wasn't always around. Hank left Nigeria before I did and he traveled around the continent where he had people he knew in various countries.
When he got home to Boston, he worked on political campaigns, got jobs in government, was the head of the Commission overseeing Power Companies. Following that he was in a private law firm. I would go to Boston from time to time and we usually went to a Harvard football game and then dine some place nice Hank had married Pat by then and I was also married.

In conclusion, Hank was always fun and didn't let issues get in front of the fun. He will be sorely missed and I will always have fond memories of my time with him.

My husband, Kevin, and I worked with Hank in Attorney General Robert H. Quinn's office many decades ago. He was a very accomplished , smart, kind and sincere person, who was liked by many. He was also a very good Administrator when I worked for him after he became the NE Regional Director of the Department of Energy in Boston.
We send our deepest sympathy to his family for their loss. Diane (Hinzpeter) - Curry
