Rabbi Kushner actually came to Temple Israel when I was at college but was a close, dear friend of my dad's - gave great holiday sermons - lived in the 'hood. Although my relat. with the rabbi was through my dad, I felt blessed to have him as a positive, warm part of my dad's life and relat. with Temple Israel. Aaron was sweet and again, though we were years apart, his presence at temple always warmed me. My dad was part of the committee that chose Harold Kushner as our new rabbi. I don't think anyone looked back.

Dear Kushner family,
Sincere condolences to all. Knowing Rabbi Kushner was as close as Natick made a difference in my life. His works and words comforted so many. With love, Sharon McManus

Sending sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to Ariel and family. Reading what you said about your dad... waiting in line at the Library to check out books. I remember you and your family from the Morse Institute Library. Your Dad would bring you and Aaron to the Library to return your stacks of books and find many more. I remember your Dad encouraging you to look for favorite authors and to ask for help. He was so kind and patient, as if he had all the time in the world. He was always so appreciative of the Library staff; my mom was the Director of Children´s Room and spoke highly of him as did all the staff.
I also had the opportunity to see him in his role as Rabbi when I volunteered at the Temple Nursery as a college student majoring in early childhood education.
He was such a wonderful person as you most certainly know that. In sympathy,
Carol Craig-O´Brien

I just spoke of a cherished interaction with him this very morning. Though I left Judaism briefly as a teen, it was his generous balance of optimism and pessimism that brought me back!

Gratitude and blessings to your family. After getting married in 1982 I suffered 3 miscarriages and a friend suggested your book . I also believed I was a good person and felt lost for a time. But being lifted up by " what will I do about it " we were eventually blessed with a family. My " what will I do" became supporting numerous others with loss. You were one of the Angels who walked among us . Thank you!

Rabbi Kushner was my Rabbi, advisor and my friend. I was so fortunate to know him and for him to be there for me during our years at Temple Israel, good times and the difficult times. May his memory be for a blessing.
