Poem: As I Look Back

As I look back on my life
I find myself wondering....
Did I remember to thank her
for all that she has done for me,
my children and my grandchildren?

For all the times she was by my side
to help me celebrate my successes
and accept my defeats?

Or for teaching me the value of hard work,
good judgement, courage, and honesty?

I wonder if I've ever thanked her for the simple things...
The laughter, smiles, and good times we've shared...
just she and I?

If I have forgotten to express my gratitude
For any of these things,
I am thanking you now, Mom....
and I am hoping that you've known all along,
how very much you are loved and appreciated.
Not time, not space....
not even death....
will ever separate us from each other...
I carry you inside of me...always,
and every time I look in the mirror,
I see your face.

Love you always,
Gail

My aunt Hazel has been my favorite aunt since I was a little girl. I always made sure on my trips out East that I always visited her. Thankfully last Memorial Day weekend (2008) my daughter, Ashley and I went out with Hazel for lobster sandwiches and shopping of course! I will forever miss my aunt Hazel. Love, Linda Cooke

Hazel was one of the most amazing people I have known. She began working for Unisys when most people were retiring. Hazel was hired as a word processor and became someone I trusted with any work from editing to alerting us to errors that could have caused major problems.
Beyond that she was a wonderful friend and confidant. I have been thinking about her a lot lately and regret that I did not follow my instincts and call her.
I'll always remember her as a great friend and caring and understanding person.
